Ontario and British Columbia firms combine to offer a national renewable energy development corporation.

Toronto, Ontario – DaoPower Canada Corp., an Ontario based developer of renewable energy projects, announced today its acquisition of Renaissance Power Corp., a British Columbia based firm with complementary goals and corporate philosophy.  The intention of the resulting company, Dao Renaissance Energy, is to develop community oriented, green and clean energy projects through a diversified and balanced portfolio of projects.

Established in 2008, DaoPower has focused on wind, biomass and solar PV in the Ontario and Caribbean markets.  Renaissance has focused primarily on run-of-river projects in B.C. during its 5 years of operation.

Doug Colby, president of Renaissance states that, “The merger of DaoPower and Renaissance creates one of the broadest renewable energy companies in Canada with expertise across an extensive range of disciplines including wind, solar PV, biomass, biogas and run-of-river sectors and we are deeply rooted in community-based, distributed green energy development.”

According to DaoPower president & CEO, David Baker, the acquisition of Renaissance, through a share exchange arrangement “will result in forming a tremendous team of dedicated professionals that are committed to bringing renewable energy solutions to the North American market place.  Not only do we now have one of the most skilled management teams available in the industry today, we also bring together a vertically integrated consortium of strategic alliances with companies that have the ability to develop projects of every size and scope.”  Through passive and non-passive investment strategies, the company is targeting, however not limiting itself to, solar PV, biomass, wind, and hydro power production, and is also actively engaging anaerobic digestion to produce biogas and electrical power.  The company is also pursuing a geographically diversified portfolio targeting; Canada, the US, Mexico and the Caribbean regions that are rich in renewable energy resources.

Having effected the acquisition of Renaissance, DaoPower will operate henceforth as Dao Renaissance Energy, with offices in Vancouver, Toronto and Halifax. The head office will be at DaoPower’s existing offices at 3100 Steeles Avenue in Markham, Ontario.   The company will be holding its annual general meeting at its Markham office in March.
